How To Use the GIS Map Gallery

Use the menu on the left side of the page to navigate to map files. All maps are in .pdf format. You will need to use Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open and view the map files. Adobe Reader is free software which you can download (or upgrade) by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

Downloading Map Files

To download a map file to your computer, right-click on the map link and select "Save Target As..." from the pop-up window. Then you can select a folder on your computer and click "Save" to download the file. When the download is complete, you can open the file with Acrobat or Reader.

Viewing Map Files

Click on a map link in the menu to view the map in the right side of your browser. Depending on your operating system, browser version, and version of Adobe Acrobat or Reader, you may have problems seeing the map files inside your browser. If you aren't able to see maps inside your browser, here are some things you can do to view the map files:

  • Upgrade your version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (use the link on the bottom of this page)

  • Right-click on the map link and select "Open in New Window" from the pop-up menu. A new browser window should open and show the map.

  • Configure Adobe Acrobat or Reader to NOT display .pdf files inside the browser. :
    1. Close your browser.
    2. Launch Acrobat or Reader.
    3. Go to Edit > Preferences...
    4. In the Preferences window, select the Internet category.
    5. Under Web Browser options, UNcheck the "Display PDF in browser" checkbox.
    6. Click "OK" to exit the window.
    7. You might need to restart your computer for this change to take effect
    8. Open your browser and go to the Map Gallery again. When you click on a map link, Acrobat or Reader should open a seperate window to view the map.
